The jury is still out on whether it is faster than the previous model. Here are some modifications we recommend for competing in the SCCA G Stock class with your MINI Cooper S... TIRES: With the 2007+ MINI Cooper S you can run either 16" wheels or 17" wheels, so that means there are several tire choices depending on which size wheel you decide to go with. The best tires choices for a G Stock MINI S appear to be the Kumho V710 or the Hoosier A6. 16" Tire Size: Kumho ECSTA V710 (215/40/16) Hoosier A6 (205/45/16) 17" Tire Size: Hoosier A6 (225/40/17) WHEELS: With the 2007+ MINI Cooper S you can run either 16" wheels or 17" wheels. The jury is still out on which is the better choice, but here are a few options for each... 16" Wheel Size: SSR Competition Wheels (now called Type C) (16x6.5 / +44 offset / 11lbs) Rota Slipstreams (16x6.5 / 13.5-14lbs) 17" Wheel Size: Enkei RPF-1 (17x7 / +43 offset / 14lbs) Enkei RS-M (17x7 / +45 offset / 15.5lbs) Motegi Traklite (17x7 / 14lbs) INTERIOR: The MINI's factory seats are not the most supportive, so one of your best upgrades would be a harness belt like the Schroth Rallye 4. These will make a HUGE difference over the factory seat belts. There is not currently a Schroth Quick Fit model made for the new MINI, but the standard bolt-in Rallye 4 should work fine for autocross. If you are looking for a less expensive option, there is always the CG-Lock.
